Venice is SinkingA Poem by Lisa LindseyInspired by listening to Barcarolle on classical radio.Time to pack up my mind
and move to Venice, which I hear is slowly
sinking into the sea, but it’s the best city
for canoodling, a city of quiet canals
and sighing bridges, palazzos and cathedrals
and wine bars aplenty. Yes, it’s a good day to
take up drinking. . . Venice is sinking but
nobody cares when we can dance under
a carnival moon by candlelight in St.
Mark’s Square, when I can pour another
glass of wine, or drift away in a
flat-bottomed boat, serenaded by a handsome
gondolier. Venice is sinking and
all is beautiful when Barcarolle is on
the radio. It’s sad when people
discover classical music,
and wine, so late in
life. © 2016 Lisa LindseyFeatured Review
