This One Is Mine

This One Is Mine

A Poem by Anon

You took advantage,
Never letting me breathe
I could never escape

Your breath down my ears
Your scent on my skin
Nothing taking this away

I've never felt so trapped
My life is no longer mine
The days are all the same

Trapped in my own mind,
Nothing helps
Not even being home

Just because I was young
You thought I would forget
I will never forget

13 years later I'm finding myself
It's taken me so long to seek help
But I'm doing this for me

You can never hurt me again
I'm not that little girl anymore
I finally feel free

You took my life away
Ruined my childhood
But I'm not letting you take this life.

This one is mine.

I absolutely love this strong proclamation of a poem. Self-awakening is an amazing feat and this poem captures that perfectly. It moved me and I thank you for sharing.
