Cut Me

Cut Me

A Poem by Faye
"

Before it began...

"

Don’t you know how you cut me up inside?
With each passing glance you increase my pain
But that pain is longing
So, please, do it again.

Don’t you know how you rend my heart?
Each smile timed so perfectly
You make torture an art.

Don’t you know what you’re doing to me?
When you hold me so briefly
That I know we’re just friends.

Each simple look, each warm smile
Like whirling daggers making ribbons of emotion
With each sweet embrace
The wheel of longing is in motion

For so long, it seems, my mind’s been in confusion
Distracting itself with wonderful illusions
Do you feel the same way?
I can’t be sure
But for now, my mind screams,
“Please! Cut me more!”
