Like the Colors Of this CanvasA Poem by Beth LindsayA poem about a painting of mine. People are really complicated in many ways.My heart is like this canvas here A colorful display it starts to appear But as the colors start to blend, A mixture of all the bright colors of the outside, Turns into a dark and gloomy core Filled with colors that no longer stand on their own Indistinguishable from all the others No longer could they ever be separated from the rest . . . But they still exist … Those colors did not vanish, but blended They didn’t dry up, but absorbed another color Hoping to becoming something more pleasant, But instead they became something else They became apart of this endless void So that they could never again be reached Never again to be pointed out . . . But they are still there . . . Lost in the void They still exist My heart is like this canvas here Nothing is no longer as clear What emotion I feel right now Or as to why I feel this way I can no longer distinguish one from another I can no longer reach out for these feeling that are trapped in the void Buried under the colors of the surface . . . But they still exist © 2015 Beth LindsayAuthor's Note
