Fields of Rage

Fields of Rage

A Poem by Beth Lindsay
"

One voice cannot make a difference no matter how much try.

"
Threats of war
are constantly in store
I hear it more and more and more
Hatred slowly rising up
My head screaming for it to stop

I cannot defend what I know is true
for narrow minded are all of you
Hatred steadily rising up
My head screaming for it to stop

Prepare for battle now!
to hold a gun, I will show you how
Hatred rises up
I head screams for it all to stop

Here's your gun, use it well
if you die, I'll see you in hell
hatred bottled up
My head screams for them to stop

Fields of rage
set the stage
the lights goes out
my heart screams and shouts

"Enough's enough
Don't pretend you're so tough
this hatred consumes you all
no matter how many will fall

that man on the ground
the one who dare not make a sound
he has a family back at home
now they are forced to grieve alone

Please, this must come to an end
As men, try and understand
This hatred that you bore,
completely unfounded, started the war

Please, allow us to leave
join the world and silently grieve"
My heart torn in two
as the bullet plunged through

There is no place for my voice to be heard
among such a blood thirsty herd
who fight for what they don't understand
Greed, vengeance, power, and land.
