The teenage Race

The teenage Race

A Poem by Beth Lindsay
"

When you become a teenage you will have people come and go in your life. This is also one part of being a teenager that transition into your adulthood.

"

You promised, to be by my side

Till the end of the race

As if our legs were tied

Together, keeping the same pace

We started off okay

Running down that road of dust

By my side you stayed

Until others began to pass us

Leaving me behind

You got ahead of the race

I tried to keep up

but only to find

Me landing on my face

I wasn’t fast enough

To join the rest

This race was too tough,

A painful loyalty test

You, being you

Easily found a place

Keeping their pace

Unaware about your shoe lace

I saw from behind

As you tripped and fell

They all acted blind,

Leaving you, as if they couldn’t tell

I ask you this, old friend

Where was that hand

That hand you said you’d lend

When my face met the land

Regardless to your betrayal

I stopped in my tracks

I won’t let you fail

Regardless the loyalty you lack

Because that is what good friends do

They see each other through

Till Death do us part

We run only to the beat of our heart

I know that it is a bit sketchy, I am still working on it a bit. I just want to see if the idea is any good.

I really can relate. A true friend will be there when the other one lacked in the loyalty. GOOD JOB!
