Don't You FallA Poem by LindsayA selfish fog provides the
wall, Supports the weight, And curbs the fall. Until the sun, its rays of
heat, They separate, The grains of wheat. That ebb and flow and rise
and fall, With torrid breeze, And teeth that gnaw. Be careful, don’t disturb the
maze, The placement of, The bricks you’ve laid. To heat the mortar, sticky
bricks, Will melt away, Your perfect fix. And just beyond the wall of
strength, Is quicksand spanning, Untold length. A featherweight turned
ironclad, Chained emotions, Lost and sad. All despair at bottom
lie, With ropes that fail, To hoist and pry. And there you lose your claw
and fist, Your chance to gain, The life you’ve missed. So build your bricks but
proud and strong, Resist the urge, To peek for long. You know what’s there, so
leave it be, Mortality, Protect your key. Please live on inside your
wall, Safe and guarded, Don’t you fall. © 2012 LindsayReviews
