Rio

A Poem by Lindsay Elizabeth

You paint by color

matching hues and neatly tracing outlines

of a picture that you dreamt up when you were sixteen and held a fine-tipped brush.

Which you still have today.

You paint by color-

while I’m still trying to connect the dots

between loving God

and loving me

and if you ever actually consider either.

Am I just your painting?

Your handcrafted masterpiece.

Am I just your painting?

e vale a pena o tempo que passo me afogando em tuas cores e morrendo em nosso pecado?
