Endangered SpeciesA Poem by Lindsay ElizabethThe AOL news article reads: "Scientists say that the rate at which plants and animals are disappearing could drastically alter life in the future."This concerns me and I can't ignore it any longer. Think: How many years make up a future? One year? Ten years? Hundreds of years? Hundreds of thousands of years? Millions, billions, trillions of years? How long, I ask, are we talking about? What about beyond the measure of years? I'm talking about eternity. Will the extinction of serenia trichechidae or the hawksbill turtle affect my soul when the earth has disappeared? I want to hear about real life, and I mean eternal life. Give me something that I can cling to. Something that I can really believe in. Something that won't disappear with the changing increments in water temperature. Give me the real deal, the real news. The stuff that still matters if I don't pick up the morning paper or turn on the 5 o'clock update with Conny Chung. Give me the gospel: the life-altering, life-giving, life-sustaining gospel. Let me hear the truth: Jesus died for my mistakes, our mistakes, the world's mistakes including, but not limited to, the harmful consequences of pesticidal poisoning to our declining oceanic ecosystem. Give me the gospel and show me the side effects of our refusal to accept it. WE are an endangered species because our souls are in danger due to the pollution of our bodies, our hearts, and our minds. We must turn our lives to Jesus Christ the son of God sent by the Father as an atonement for every single sin of the past, present, and future. He is the only one who can keep our chances of Eternal Life from disappearing into extinction. © 2014 Lindsay Elizabeth |
