Doubting Thomas

Doubting Thomas

A Poem by Lindsay Elizabeth

I

am a doubting Thomas.

Look at my heart.

See the holes, the missing pieces?

They exist because

I cannot believe in the reason for the holes in your hands.

If only your love were as real to me as

these wounds that I can feel with my fingertips…

How deep they sink; how far they travel.

But you, oh Lord, know all.

You are the founder

and the perfector of my faith. Amen!

And my prayer is that you would make me like a child

so that I would always know and understand and believe

that of course you love me

And of course your plan for me is good as you are good.

Then i would not see my paralyzing sin

but the glory of Jesus Christ.
