Rain Wash Me Spirit Wash Me

Rain Wash Me Spirit Wash Me

A Poem by Lindsay Elizabeth

Rain wash me

Spirit wash me

I am sticky and filthy

I am heavy-laden

and the dirt drags on the white carpet of my house.

Rain wash me

Spirit wash me

let the droplets bind to my skin like a barrier

let them roll down my eyelids down my lips down my neck

to my heart

to my finger tips

to my feet

let the runoff fall to the floor to clean the mess I’ve made

let it make my old, beaten wooden floors like-new

Creation

is a mess.

Rain wash me

Spirit wash me.

Wow. Very nicely done. It certainly does feel like that, doesn't it?
