illusion

illusion

A Poem by Avoiry

What an illusion

of stripes and bars

cut at your chest by the spangled stars

but we weren't surprised

it takes two seconds to blink

and three to open your eyes

how lazy is that?

i've read some of your stuff and i can see you have the heart and mind of a poet. i like the idea behind this one a lot. i am a philsopher and some of my own writing has a lot to do with capitalism and democracy and the american fantasy (forget the dream, it's just a fantasy) and i can see how this fits well with some of my own feelings and thoughts. well done. thanks for the reviews. i'll read some more of your writing soon. also i enjoped the picture of your eye, it's quite lovely. take care

ps. you might be interested in reading a book called "My Ishmael" by Danial Quinn i am pretty sure this is how you spell his name and the title of the book. talk about an eye opener.
