Black Ice

Black Ice

A Poem by Avoiry

It's so funny to watch her fall down

On the pavement slick with ice

And the cuts on her hands are no different

Then when she bled for you

When she became dead for you

On the last day of May

Before then sun began to complain

Thinking you would help her see the day

Hoping you could make the fear wash away

But as all we know it's untrue

Because she's lying on the pavement bleeding

But where are you

 And the hits didn't hurt

She proclaimed to the night

As she screamed her sorrows into the shower head

After losing the same old fight

Being hit for the fun of it she falls

And they ask her why her face is down

And they ask her why it all came apart

Behind these paper thin walls

But It's all just fine he'll tell you

As he downs his beer with haste

Looking to the girl asleep on his floor

His mouth in utter distaste

To the woman he said I love you to

Just the day before

The child cried from the bed room

When December came with its cold shoulder

To the woman out in the snow

Below the second story window

Of the run down apartment

With the paper thin walls

Yet no one heard her scream
