World of DreamsA Poem by L. N. BabcockA girl finds refuge in a imaginary world: a world of dreams. She often imagines a world of her own, the place where all her dreams are blown. A world where it's alright for her to be herself, and her dreams and ambitions are her wealth. With no more worries of pleasing others, and no more hiding from life under the covers. She can dance all night under the stars, and keep glittering fireflies forever in jars. She can eat pizza while wearing dresses of lace, and paint brilliantly colored pictures all over the place. She can finally hold her head up high, and about her true self she won't have to lie. No more fearing the cruel things people say, in her world she can see true beauty every day. She knows this dream world doesn't truly exist, yet she is hopeful enough to persist. Because this imagined world is her every day savior, perhaps it’s God's way of doing her a favor. She knows when her life is coming apart at the seams, that she can always escape to her world made of dreams. To you she may only be a dreamer, but in her own strength she is a firm believer. © 2012 L. N. Babcock |
