Cassandra

Cassandra

A Poem by LR Young

There is no more shape to you
than there is reason,
a burst of light, in the pit
of it, like when the almond first
takes root, the shooting up
in the metaphysical
serpent-spine and that plot
of earth in your backyard. the ladder
in the orchard. I will harvest
from their bare limbs
my own naked
belonging,
that hugging horizon filled
with Marlow's grand ships,
1000 all told, just for a girl
that Paris, tempted
and by the power
of the golden
apple, stole.
But I know you know
better, and we would Sail
further than Greece
or Troy; you would not stop
at my edges or my consequences,
but to the end of the cosmic world.

I so desire a view of the world
and a lasting relationship that
can take both of us to that edge
and further.

You are a consummate word smith
with a vast touch.

this moves brilliantly, vague and wispy, just lovely the way it trickles off the tongue :)
