Blip

Truth is a chicken carcass
tossed in the homeless alleys
for a beggar to start a war over.

It gets devoured before
any chance of seeping
into the dirt and poured concrete
of simple common decency,
as bulletproof limos leave the scene
on the green arrow of opportunity,
on over-inflated tires
and pharmaceutical
cruise-control adrenaline.

The greatest fables ever told
are often cast upon the crowd
by those who never learn
from the stories they aspire
to live in as their lives unfold.

To Ragnarok
and back again
in 15 minutes-
a personal record,
considering the distance.

Drawing new breath
in the shadow
of the spire,
confidence grows
enormous and wide
to smother the eyes
of dishonest muses
cowered in the thickets
of the night.

Marvelous to the naked eye,
glowering the hands of minutes ticked by,
into the dander of the alpha animals,
we lay and love and lie.
