Bring me Back to Life

Bring me Back to Life

A Poem by Linda

A poem dedicated to my uncle.

Creek...Poof!

Dust everywhere as I open the door to my under world.

Now, I should warn about what you are going to see.

All things past this door are things that have happened to me.

This is a side that I keep in the dark.

Because no one's been strong enough to get past this part.

I offer my hand to guide the way.

We step inside and get consumed by the place.

Shh! don’t make noise.

The smell of your fears is what the demons enjoy.

They crave the taste of a beating heart.

Stay behind me, I have no heart for them to tear apart.

Your shivering, yes, it’s cold.

This is the place of the roaming souls.

Now let's keep moving so my story can unfold.

Our ears ring from the screams of my past.

With a little girl asking how long this will last.

My eyes turn fiery red.

You panic, nothing will happen to me for I am the walking dead.

No soul to take.

No heart to break.

 Empty.

That is what I am.

Now sit so you can know how this all began.

I take a deep breath,

Then spill it all like a broken faucet.

From the look on your face this is not what you expected.

But this is me.

And that is my story.

Growing numb as time goes by,

I bleed just to know I am alive.

It’s scary to know how lifeless I've become.

I’m slipping. I need someone to help before I become undone.

Straight ahead I see the light.

I try to take a step but the dark won't let me leave without a fight.

I look in your eyes. Run, they sensed your presence.

I fall to my knees in agony.

They figured me out, they're taking me.

My nails bleed as I grip the ground.

No, I won’t give him the benefit of the doubt.

I don't shed a tear, that'll just make him proud.

So much has been taken from me, and that's alright.

Because I still have some fight still left inside.

Your safe, you’re in the light.

You tell me not to give up, that there is still some time.

It feels like eternity

But soon enough, the light, I reach

You try to pull me in but I can't without the key.

As you can see, the flaws on me are as clear as cracks on a mirror,

But only a living soul can save my own.

Not that you've see who I am

And what I’ve seen,

Only you can save me.

You must accept me,

Or I stay in the underworld for the rest of eternity.

With the crack still on the mirror.

Decide! Hurry, I hear the demons getting nearer.

"Yes!" You scream before their hands can grab me.

With that...

My heart finally beats

As I open the door to the real world.

Boom Boom...
