The Lake Near Home

The Lake Near Home

A Poem by LindaLou

The water is smooth like glass

Here and there a tiny ripple floats by

Fishing boats dot the horizon

Powder puff clouds hover in the perfect blue sky

Trees line the shores

Like an outline of forest green

Deer come out for a drink

Though they are seldom seen

The gentle breeze lifting them easily

Overhead, birds glide on soft wing

If you lean your head and listen closely

You can often hear them sing

Two people sitting in the sun

Boat bobbing gently to and fro

Not much talking going on here

Can’t disturb the silence, you know

Peaceful and tranquil, this place close to home

We call it simply ‘the lake’

Truly beautiful ‘tis for sure

This place that He did make
