One Cold Winters Night

One Cold Winters Night

A Poem by President LincPwln

'Twas the deep of December
When late in the night,
Guided by stars
And the Moons shining light,
The Spirit of Christmas,
A miraculous sight,
Moved through the streets
To set the world right.

As the cold days drew on
By the warm firesides,
Against blizzards and frost,
That spirit resides;
Away from the dark
Of those bleak winter days
Our hope still lives on
And all our kind prays.

For it can't last forever,
We know it is true,
That the dawn will soon rise,
And life springs anew.
