The Long Forgotten HeartA Poem by Linairmother earth has been forgotten. In silent nights it can be heard Deep within the dark The softly beating pulse of the long forgotten heart The night is still as death and cold Winds have yet to stir To never interrupt the heart’s softly sounding purr The moon crawls through the night’s dark web Escaping the sway The heart’s beat murmurs steadily into growing day Time spawns man from fertile soil To maim, kill, and sin And the earth lies forgotten outside the laws of men So the beat slows, then grows softer Purring slow and weak And the long forgotten heart will cease its steady beat © 2009 LinairAuthor's Note
