milk and fire

milk and fire

A Poem by Lin Une Aleisha
"

This poem captures a raw, intimate, and almost visceral portrait of love, blending the physical and emotional. It is a confession of unconditional love that transcends time, place, and circumstance.

"
raw bloodied knuckles grazed by the swaying long grass
blunt and chipped nails digging into the soft brown dirt
cracked dry lips brushed by my lover's fingers
the loud crack of thunder that chases the striking bolt
the cratered moon crescented by the blazing sun
i take off my armor, lay down my sword
my shield clatters and clanks and the sound of war becomes a labored sigh
i love you
here, you seem tense
i love you
the milk warmed, the scorch marks at the bottom of a pitcher
i love you
the soft hum of the too-old bulb
i love you
no rhyme nor reason, time nor place
i love you
the steady thump of your heart, the shine of your eyes
i love you
the distant patter of rain and faraway hooves
i love you
