Rest In PeaceA Poem by LinBinA poem with a story within a story........of lust, betrayal, murder......Rest in Peace
The church was packed full to capacity, so many mourners at a sad goodbye, Their weary eyes so red from constant crying, so many voices asking why?
The priest stood sombre at the pulpit, holy bible held in his trembling hand, Quoting scripture from the holy book, and asking gods' flock to understand
He spoke of a life that was brutally taken, of a future that was cruelly denied, Of a young woman enticed from her home and viciously beaten until she died
Shattered parents sat weeping silently, holding on to each other for dear life Two lives completely shattered, their hearts pierced as if by a butchers knife
The coffin was bore by four brothers who longed to see their sister once again Their faces etched in anguish, so desperately wanting to erase their parents pain
As the priest scattered earth upon the casket, a thunderstorm lit up the charcoal skies The heavens opened with a rapture, and icy rain fell like teardrops from angels eyes
The loved ones and friends departed in time, the church stood empty but for one man, He hid behind an veil of silence and continued to abide by his well thought out plan
Standing close behind him, whispering damning words that he could not fail but hear He turned slowly to face his
accuser, & saw the remnants of a girl who died in fear
His eyes were set in sheer confusion, his last thoughts were clearly ones of doubt
I left him lying at the alter, where soon the devils henchmen would come to feast And in the morning his flock will find him and shed tears for their beloved priest
I will not attend his funeral , nor will I shed any tears for his premature demise For this is the man who killed me, then hid behind his church to peddle lies
Our little secret he told me, a secret that if discovered would bring us both to harm
So it was on that fateful night when he turned from someone serene to someone wild When he beat me so savagely and took not only my life but also that of our unborn child
Now I live on in the memories of my loved ones, in the photographs of times gone by I rest in the peace of my killers damnation and watch over my family from a distant sky
