THE GREEN CHILDREN OF WOOLPIT

THE GREEN CHILDREN OF WOOLPIT

A Poem by LinBin
"

A STRANGE BUT SUPPOSEDLY TRUE TALE

"

FROM THE 12th CENTURY THERE COMES A VERY STRANGE TALE; A CURIOUS STORY THAT IS JUST BEGGING TO BE TOLD;THERE'S A QUAINT LITTLE VILLAGE IN DEVON CALLED WOOLPIT AND IT'S FROM HERE THAT OUR STORY WILL UNFOLD......

HUDDLED IN A CAVE, TWO YOUNG STRANGERS WERE FOUND, 2 SMALL CHILDREN UNLI KE ANY WE’VE EVER SEEN; NOTHNG TOO EXTRAORDINARY ABOUT THEM REALLY; EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THEY WERE BOTH GREEN!

THEY SPOKE A WEIRD LANGUAGE NO ONE UNDERSTOOD; THEY APPEARED PEACEFUL BUT EXTREMELLY CONFUSED; THE FOLK SHELTERED BOTH THE BOY AND GIRL  BUT FOR ONE OF THEM AN EARLY DEATH SADLY ENSUED.

THOUGH THE BOY DIED SHORTLY AFTER BEING FOUND; THE GIRL SURVIVED AND IN TIME GREW TO UNDERSTAND; SHE SAID SHE CAME FROM AN UNDERGROUND PLANET, A DIM, TWILIGHT PLACE CALLED ST MARTINS LAND.

SHE COULD NOT SAY HOW SHE ENDED UP IN THE CAVE BUT SHE COULD CLEARLY REMEMBER WHERE SHE'D BEEN;SHE TOLD OF A TWILIGHT PLACE WHERE THE SUN NEVER SHONE;  AND WHERE ALL OF ITS INHABITANTS WERE A SHINY GREEN.

ALTHOUGH SOME HISTORIANS SAY THIS IS JUST A MYTHICAL TALE; OTHERS SAY THAT IT'S A TRUE STORY WE DON'T WANT TO ADMIT; BUT IT’S FOR YOU DEAR READER TO MAKE UP YOUR OWN MINDS; AS TO WHAT THE TRUTH MAY BE ABOUT THE GREEN CHILDREN OF WOOLPIT

Well, I believe. If it wern't for fantasy, where would we be. A lit different take on your rhyme scheme...I like it.
