if you watch Bear Grills' "Man vs Wild" you begin to think that 'cage' is the most wonderful
of things to stumble upon. Cage is both refuge and warmth, observation and home. But taken
out of the context of adventure, placed in the confines of civilization, 'cage' is one of the
most horrible of constructs. It can be social, sexual, family oriented and gender restrictive.
you left the idea of it rather open for the readers interpretation....which suites me just fine.
An essay on security, though locked in and trapped. Cage is warmth but the captivity soon will get very cold; when the light goes out the warmth may go with it...coming back? Nice write, Riv. Very creative. take care...dan
Hey Riv, some say that we are all born free, but if we would allowed
It this world of ours could be the same as one gigantic cage.
Why else that some looks towards the sky to escape.
I believe that some cages are made to protect
And whenever that we're ready we
Simply unlock it ourselves
In freewill and soar.
The light never
Goes out.
Thanks.
Cool.
Cages do become smaller and they can feel like a prison. Nice description allowed the reader to feel and sense the cage getting smaller and the lights going out. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
Coyote
A cage where it's safe, and yet as it gets smaller it feels as if hope is dying. This poem could be seen in a few different ways but that's what I thought of. Playing it safe gives you less options. An interesting one I must say :)
Cages works for protecting from attack, but after sometime the walls move in and the space gets smaller. Even the cage is within your own mind, you must continue to find your escape and find the light. Well done.

We create our own little safety 'bubbles' and we feel quite safe there and sometimes we spent so much time in them that we forget about reality. The cage morphs from a refuge then to a prison and soon we dont even realise we are our own jailer.
Your words are never wasted Abby.
Alright, let's do this. My name is Riv or Abby. Either one works. I'm eighteen years old and really love writing poetry on my spare time. While I do write novels and wish to publish one or a few one d.. more..
