Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by Riv

I'm waiting for the next note to come out.
To come scratching at my door.
To tell me everything's done.
And that I won't have to worry anymore.

I couldn't tell you when the last time was,
When I had a dream about you.
Each and every time,
It's left with something empty.

A castle far in the distance,
That somehow came into my control.
Where were you even then,
When I kidnapped the princess from the other kingdom.

Water flows so delicately,
And I'm trying to keep from drowning.
I'm going to keep it to myself,
Waiting for that next one to come out.

"That somehow came into my control." - the crux of our dreams - we slip in so easily in and out of dream-roles - prince then pauper - soldier then screaming child and we just 'know' what we are. Meanwhile back at the ranch -here in wakened-land it's no so easy to figure out the 'what' or more to the point the 'why'.

As a budding songwriter I really love the idea of the notes coming scratching at our door. Class, Riv.

I reread this again after I saw your note about it being inspired by a dream and it made more sense lol. This is an interesting one because you address some weird things that happen to us when we dream, and yet it feels like it has a real world message to say. A great write :)

Haha that sounds fun! Dreams are such a fun form of entertainment.
It is a winsome dream with a fairy-tale broad-minded spirit needed to define when your 'next note' will come with good news of the kind that you want or need to hear. Harken now! I think that I might see a grey horse approaching with a 'pale rider'!

This piece is predicated on a dream-like quality, carrying the next note to its destination, striking new chords and building fog-drenched castles in the mind's eye. This is very well written, Riv, one of your best. Keep writing! take care...dan

Was nice to read.. good work.. something could be drawn from your saying.........yet, yet some part is unfilled...and i agree with the filled unfilled story because its a dream.. dreams are always not fully filled.. :) hope you understand what I am coming to say... ??
