you make me

you make me

A Poem by Riv

You make my stomach turn
Twist in knots

You make my ears burn
Burn to words

You live where we live
And yet take up space
We all need

I tip toe around every edge
I tip toe around every word

But somehow I feel as if
I shouldn't be worrying about how you feel

I try so hard
To take care of you

I try so hard not to offend you
I know you're hurting

However in life we have to learn
To stop complaining
And make something of ourselves

I'd hate to see you go
But when I leave I'll say
You no longer make my stomach turn

Author's Note

Riv
My little brother is really annoying, tansgender and has many problems. Including depression. I try really hard to be careful about what I saw around him, but sometimes it gets too stressful and I regret caring about him. I'll be moving out in a year or so, so I wrote this poem to say I should let go. I love my little brother but teenage angst is not something I can deal with when I already went through it and don't plan on having children.

Honest and direct words in the poetry.
"I'd hate to see you go
But when I leave I'll say
You no longer make my stomach turn"
Above lines as direct as you could go. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Someone who is a drag
that can't be good on any account

no time for complaining or hating
Life is too short for that

Good for you :)

You have penned feelings for others that need to be said for them...and in poetry it is easier to look at those feelings without judging. I have been there.

A very touching poem friend. Such situations test our patience and we stay confused as to whether we must be together or peacefully part ways. This can be in case of any relation. Thanks for sharing

That is a painful place to be. So many don't accepted and they feel so alone. It is good that you make the effort and maybe someday it will calm down and a more comfortable relationship can be formed. Nice work to relieve the pain.

They say familiarity breeds contempt (or annoyance?), so maybe when you have your own place you will be better able to understand him and just be there to listen, to try to help. Younger siblings often depend upon and look up to older siblings; hopefully you will be better able to help him from a distance. take care...dan

Walking on eggshells when living under the same roof is not easy nor is it called for. everyone there should learn to participate in what it takes to co-exist in harmony or leave to other surroundings. Period.

Well all brothers and sisters sometimes get on our nerves but deep down we still love them. Good expression on your feelings though.
