I'm glad you did

You got so far up

It was kind of scary

Can you hear me from here?

The dark is terrifying

You aren't afraid of the dark are you?

Afraid of the night

There's a lot of things you don't understand

That's why I'm here

I'll protect you

When you won't protect yourself

....at midnight....

I'm not terrified of the dark

I'm terrified of what comes after

But I don't like that light

It burns like a Fire

I don't deserve your protection

Blindlessly alone

I'd rather rot up there

Than be happy down here

You see I hate that place

I hate being happy

Being sad is all the more fun

But, thank you for protecting me

Sonticus, my own mythological creature. They're are jackal wolf shifters in which their animal forms almost act as a separate self inside them.

Limno, I had to look up sonticus (found it in a Latin dictionary, meaning serious). This piece is well written, defining a clear difference between 'down here' and 'up there.' When you insert such a conflict into a write it is presumed that the conflict's resolution will be revealed; but you chose to leave it hanging open like a doorway, making the reader want more. Seems that the Dark is a Terrifying place and the light is a happy place, so somewhere in-between is a place that is sustainable and one can be sad and have all the more fun.
