Great advice. I believe there have actually been psychological studies proving that smiling actually does put people in a better mood.
Anyway... on the poem. It's short. It's simple. And it's got everything possible thing you need to say in it. The repeated word smile emphasizes the point. The fact that you keep it so simple makes the reader (or me, anyway) feel like there's a deeper story behind the words. A story that I think everyone can relate to: It hurts, but smile and keep it to yourself and maybe eventually it will be better.
Very well done. :)

Hi Limno. Oh this is sad, and I know, because I have tried this one myself!!! Smiling on the outside, crying on the inside . . . a very old song that was my favourite for many years!!! Smiles lie in your future, that is a fact, just that getting to them can take so long . . . or so it seems when you are young. Love that you have written this, and so love the poetry!!! alf
