Anticipated

Anticipated

A Poem by Riv

"I can hear your breathing"

My eyes are shot red,
the dark taken over.
They were searching and begging,
for that dark daydream.
Begging for the burning feeling,
the one that warms your body.
Dead on your feet,
yet so concentrated.

It's just your imagination,
it's only a figment of ratification.
You're trying to justify,
the blood you have taken.

Where is the cold I long for,
where is the heat.
Planting chairs by the fire,
unknown of your eyes searching.
It isn't real,
it isn't real.
That shadow in your room,
it's only you.

it's only you

I love the format. i agree sometimes certain ways we place the words on a page can have a negative effect but this works perfectly and helps make an impact adding to the anticipation! Nice creative write.

LimnoH, The unconventional presentation is a double-edged sword (I know, I have used similar setups); it can draw attention but it can often confuse the reader. I'm comfortable with it so it's fine with me. This is a very intense write with raw feelings exposed like live wires; the trajectory of the poem, however, remains focused and linear. A very powerful and loving tribute to one who is revered and very close to the protagonist's heart. Very nicely done! take care...dan

This is great! The format pulls me in, to read more.. and a scary message too little kids! Reassuring, but guess again..

This is great - I love the whole thing, from the layout of the text to the imagery. It has a palpable tenseness.
