The Hidden Reaper

The Hidden Reaper

A Poem by Jane

Seen all

Taken many

Screams and cries are its lullabies

Dresses in flesh and a black coat

Decorates its bones in scarlet paint

Jewelry of eyes and teeth

Destructive, skeletal claws maul and steal souls

Watched man destroy men

Witnessed men destroy Earth

Sadistic

Laughs at begs and pleas

Its eyes dark, darker and emptier than space itself

Cold yet, somehow, comforting

Changes forms to stay hidden, un-noticed

However I have seen it

Many have

They even created a saying for it:

“Be cautious, it’s bad luck when a black cat crosses your path.”

"Screams and cries are its lullabies" is my favorite line of this poem. I just think it could create a even more mysterious effect if the title didn't say what the poem was about. But overall I really liked this poem, good job.

you managed to portray a solid picture in my mind, I like it when the piece builds the picture before delivering the final piece of the puzzle, it's something I try to aim for in my writing but you have managed to do it within a short poem, that's light years ahead of me :)

well done.

I agree with J.C with suggesting that maybe you do a little to the presentation but it still stands on its own.

Wow, that was really good!! I didn't even realize that it was talking about a cat. I feel like you should try to make more impact on the last line, maybe italicize a few words, or maybe bold a few words
