The Missed and the MissingA Poem by Lily AvenueA poem of comparison between those who are missing and those who miss them. When it comes to life people move on, And even though it’s commonly known, They’re still missed when they’re gone, And on the faces of those left behind it’s shown.
Whether it be by a sudden death, Or simply falling out of love, When they leave they almost take your breath, As if they flew away with it like a dove.
For some reason the feeling left behind is worse, Then anything that’s felt when they’re there, It’s almost as if they left behind a terrible curse, And really the loss is enough, the pain is not fair.
Of course on the other side of everything, People tend to like being missed by others. To some it’s a new sort of exciting, When they’re on the mind of friends, loves or mothers.
Wanting and missing go hand in hand, The want of them to be there and the want to be wanted, It seems to be greater when the leave is unplanned, And when the one left behind is with memories, haunted.
So whether it might be that it’s a need or a want, Or maybe there really is something missing in that empty space, I’m tired of the waiting which is now almost a taunt, And I’d rather you were back here with me in this place. © 2013 Lily AvenueAuthor's Note
