I knew you weren't the one

I knew you weren't the one

A Poem by k.s.

I knew you weren’t right for me,

when you complained about the bloodstains

I left on your bed sheets.

When you told me my glasses made me look funny,

and that I shouldn’t spend all of my time studying.

When you made me change my clothes before we went to dinner.

I knew you weren’t the one for me,

when you left your handprint across my bare cheek

because my big ideas made you feel so small.

You didn’t like when I wore makeup, but I had to if

I wanted to cover up the black and blue of your hands.

I knew you weren’t right for me,

when you disrespected me in front of your friends.

You laughed at my expense to grant Yourself some closure.

I know this isn’t love but you made sure

I couldn’t leave by constantly threatening me.

I’m too scared to call my mom, to tell her about

things you’ve done.

I’m stuck in this

trap that your

love has become.
