This is an interesting comment on a certain human type. These people seem to need extra stimulation to avoid depression and anxiety. These are the ones who joy in riding vehicles at top speeds, sky diving, bungee jumping, etc. The movie "The Hurt Locker" was about a bomb disposal specialist in Iraq who got out of the army for a while, then reenlisted because he could not bear the tedium of civilian life. The source of this condition may be physiological, but I tend to believe that ironically, it has to do with the fear of death, that somehow coming close to the great divide makes life more meaningful. There, I'm sure that's more than you needed or wanted to hear.

I however disagree with you on people living life on the edge to keep them from falling into depression or anxiety. I'm sure there are people that feel that way but in my poem I wrote it more towards people doing the unthinkable because this is their life and they only get one life that they know of. I wrote it saying that they live this way because they want to experience everything life has to offer. Thank you for the interesting comment you made me see it in a different perspective thank you.
