I Know You Love Me
A Poem by
k.s.
You leave these bruises,
out of love.
I know you
don't mean to.
I try to hide them,
to keep people
from asking
or judging.
You didn't mean
to do it so
hard.
You were drunk,
it's okay.
I know you love me.
Even when
you hurt me.

The innocence of eyes blurred with false love. Real love is actions not feelings. You deserve better.
Another great write.

This was so powerful. I know plenty of people that have been in this very situation. You were able to convey that so purely. Keep writing!

I completely agree with Najam. The use of the single sentence structure conveys the innermost thoughts - there is much doubt and self-denial peppering each self-comforting affirmation.
This is really powerful Katy.

Thank you for reading! I appreciate that so much.
I liked this poem. The way you broke the sentences to create clear meaning was very effective.
