Overwhelmed

I feel overwhelmed

All day and night.

There is too much to do.

There is no time.

There is nothing to do.

Yet, I work in a hurry.

I am anxious to complete

what should not be my worry.

I should not care.

Yet these tasks I take on.

I believe I MUST do them

or my success will be gone.

I feel overwhelmed

All day and night,

as I realize the truth

these meaningless jobs will ruin my youth.

Nice poem, am going through the same thing right now and all I say is am feeling overwhelmed. I am a full time college student and a mother that do everything on my own. Sometimes I cry of how overwhelmed I feel most of the time and all for a degree that I feel I need in order to have my own place away from public housing and negativity. Yet overwhelm is just something that'll take me to my dreams and aspirations as a mother and as an individual. Even I feel old yet am only 22 but I feel this way because I do not do what other youth individuals do nor have the time for myself. Feeling overwhelmed can both be good and bad.

I am so glad you can relate to this poem. I'm also in college and feel like I'm doing all this work for nothing. But we need to remember that in the end it will make us stronger, just like you said :)
Good luck with everything. Get your degree, support your child and one day they will thank you and give back to you because you never gave up. I also know what it feels like to not be able to experience the things that I should be experiencing at my age. But everyone's life is different and in the end we all get what we want and deserve.
