Floral Breath

Floral Breath

A Poem by L. Aericko
"

There was a quote I've always loved involving flowers planted in lungs.

"
We shared breath,
Like the wind from the tops of mountains that are strong enough to reach the deepest of caves at their bases.
And along the journey,
Seeds were picked up from various plants.

You took those seeds and planted them in all my hollows.
You packed them in with kind words and
Sweet gestures.
Every crack and crevice was filled with such wonderful colors.

My veins held vines of ivy,
My body filled with marigolds and snapdragons.
Poppies and gladiolus and morning glories.
A head of a wisteria tree,
It's small flowers falling past my shoulders.
My lungs bloomed with roses and dahlias and sunflowers.

And while these flowers are beautiful,
Darling,
It's getting hard to breath.
