Stand Out

Stand Out

A Poem by Meradee

I see a crowd of gray.

No color, interest, or originality.

Sameness rules in this crowd.

I look down at myself,

Only to discover I am gray also.

I try to remember how I got here,

To this boring gray state.

I remember a time,

Long ago,

When I turned gray,

To fit in with the crowd.

Now i see my mistake,

And regret it dearly.

I must make a change,

I say.

But how?

I will be myself,

And then my true colors will show.

I stand out now,

Orange against gray.

How very wonderful,

To know who I am.

It may not be popular,

But I am who I am.

Wow! Now this is a poem that tells exactly how I feel sometimes: everyone is gray, but I want to be orange! I like the fact that you actually introduced the colours in there, it makes it look special even from just a first glance. Very well written!

Lovely poem, and I can completely relate. Hell, I make my own colors! That doesn't make sense, does it? Oh well, you get what I mean. This poem is wise and true, and I love how it flows. And the use of colors creates a wonderful imagery.
