White Noise

White Noise

A Poem by Lily
"

A one-sided relationship.

"
There is nothing to love here
But the space in between.

In Physics we learned how hollow things resonate.
Perhaps if you can find my natural frequency you can make it sound
Like I am singing.
I am smiling or laughing.
Like I can talk to you.
I cannot talk to you,
I cannot speak.

But you can play make believe.
Maybe we can live in a cottage
With White roses around red door,
And thatched roof that keeps the rain
From washing us clean.

And maybe when it rains,
When it rains-
When it rains hard, it will leak,
And we can put a copper saucepan out to catch the water,
So every drop rings out,
Sonorous.

And we will have cushions embroidered with lies they tell us,
About how wonderful life is,
they will not say in wobbly cross stitch,
There is nothing to love here.

In Physics we learnt how hollow things resonate.
And everything will ring out, and echo
If you listen hard enough.
If you can find the right frequency
Among the White Noise.

I loved the simplicity here. The flow is great too. Sadly, unlike in Physics, Newton's 3rd law doesn't apply in love. You can't expect someone you love to love you back :)
