The Great Unknown

The Great Unknown

A Poem by Ceri Sian Lock

Stare into thorny abyss.
A terrifying night,
You're waiting for your knight.
There's something you miss.
It is your night!
To shine.
Burn through sharp vines.
Magnify.
Blade of light,
Through the monster you fight.
That fairytale foe,
The Great Unknown.
Wide swamp eyes,
Hypnotise.
SNAP OUT OF IT!
Or face your demise.
Realise.
It was a figment of your misconception.
You were looking in the wrong direction.
Now.
Outside of tunneled vision,
Just beside the prison,
There's an inscription.
It says 'Don't wait! Save yourself!'
A simple decision.
Your hero stunned,
Static.
Take the advice,
And run quick.

What a fascinating rhyming scheme -- so clever in word choice and flowing in a way that feels natural and unforced. I am so curious now to know if there is an experience or journey which inspired this, or else if it is merely a version of fantasy. Regardless, I love it and I am grateful for your crafting and sharing it.
