Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Lilith

Slurred speech and cheap booze

That’s all you ever have to offer

Memories forging into one lump sum, the skies never changing tones

Tomorrow will be a better day they say,

But how can it be so if tomorrow never comes?

One day leads into another, not a single moment of clarity

Every action and reaction waiting to be contemplated by others,

The others who only have the media to do their thinking for them

Not one thought of their own, they cannot dissever their own mind from the vast sea of strangers and loved ones even cold ones

Tomorrow is the day still,

But it never came for I am still living yesterday.
