The UntouchableA Story by LilithDianaClioDeath. When someone we know succumbes to it we are depressed. At its ceremony and procession we weep. The dark colors of mystery and the unknown have always graced its memory, yet perhaps this inevitable fact it not all the general populace has, overtime come to see it as. Death is as natural as life. Yet when a new child is conceived or born celebration is customary whereas death is followed only by mourning. Mayhap it is the thought of the unknown that keeps us all terrified of falling into death’s grasp. In this day and age we has developed and honed our survival skills to the point of conquering the very elements that brought us to this stage. Nature is at the mercy of us humans and the tool we use to forever keep it slave to us is technology. It seems at times that the world hold no more mystery. We have gone to the far reaches of space, and have peered into the depths of the ocean, we have found new life and even controlled how humans are created. Our lives are no longer the tumultuous and unpredictable roller coasters that they were, even just one-hundred years ago. We see ourselves as being kings of all. And death is the one field into which our vision cannot see. It is the one element we can never conquer, the one place that has remained untouched by us and is forever the only constant betwixt us, and our ancestors. Although we strive to understand this daunting, and fearsome aspect of our lives by use of religion we still have gained absolutely no definite knowledge from all of our speculation. There is one shard of light through the dark pit of mystery; the fact that there is one field of knowledge that we as humans can never conquer brings us back down from our thrones and reminds us that we are simply the pieces, not the players. Perhaps this is the only tether that we as humans have, to keep us rooted to reality. © 2015 LilithDianaClio |
