Bleeding Hearts

Bleeding Hearts

A Poem by Tales From the Mad Cafe

Bleeding hearts drain me dry

Burning eyes too tired to cry

Falling fast to crash and burn

Will I ever heal, will I ever learn?

Past undone, the furture looms

I pass like a ghost in unfamiliar rooms

Sleep unsteady, cold empty bed

Is this my pennance for the life I led?

Through the pain I must walk strong

Upon many paths both thorny and long

Feels like defeat, yet I know I will win

Feels like salvation, yet I know it's a sin

Slowly I change, my chrysalis cracked

Re-acquiring everything I lacked

Even now my skin grows thicker still

This time I will taste glory, I know I will
