Childhood Bliss

Childhood Bliss

A Story by Lilibeth A.K
"

A young woman recounts her childhood bliss when she is hit by nostalgia on the beach.

"

As I breathed in the fresh ocean breeze, I took a moment to feel the soft, golden, and hot sand underneath the soles of my feet. The delightful sound of a child’s laughter, the songs sung by seagulls, and the crystal-blue ocean waves rolling over each other, all came together like one joyous orchestra. I felt a sense of nostalgia roll over me, reminding me of the beauty of childhood. I let my mind wander as my eyes traveled from scene to scene, children walking hand-in-hand with their parents whilst bending down and picking up seashells. A 40-something-year-old man strengthening his bond with his teenage son, and women chatting amongst themselves. It all reminded me of my childhood. My father and eldest brother would do some fishing and chat, my big sister would be dragged into a conversation by our auntie Linda and her friends, and I still remember the feeling of true childhood bliss with my mother.
