The New DeityA Poem by Liliasit's about things we choose to put on a pedestal for a god...When eyes become blind,
monochromatic vision of a flavorless life is what we want to escape from, watching the bright high tech flat screen we got and set, like a new god on its den's pedestal.. We sit then we bow our head in front of the almighty black box that shows us how life is supposed to be lived. In kinky advisors' dreams. Our nightmare. Money, pleasure, sex, Violence, power, More we get more we want, More we want more they give us. Our wantings become our needs. Our physical thirst and hungriness Turn into a blurred feeling of Momentary uneasiness, a disturbing tingle that distracts us from what really counts... The car we drool on each time we see it on advertisement, The item we would die for... And just forget in a corner of our house. We begin to recite the new prayer We learned, adoring our new Deity ... " I want it, I must have it, I would die without it, I tremendously desire it, Oh I need it, give it to me, I will kill to get it, I will sell myself, what I don't possess, I will sell what you own, to please me, to fulfill my desires, because I deserve it, more than you do." And we recite it, we repeat it still and again, until the day when our overfed head finally breaks under the weight of drawers full of crappy things that will never follow us into the anonymous hole that waits for our corpse, our soul flying all around, crying out ... " Oh, I SHOULD have got this funeral stone, the one I saw !!!" just before the fabulous new closet we got collapsed on us, two days ago. Too bad. © 2010 Lilias |
