Father daughters

Father daughters

A Poem by Sarmelendez

You loved me when he did not want me
took me as your own became my father
we grew together learning and playing

you showed me love and affection like a daddy should
There for all the first from the steps to the first day of school
to the last day of high school and everything in between

You never let me forget that i was always your daughter no matter what
then you just gave up on me
no more calls or texts you chose them over me

there your blood and i am not
you said you were always my dad no matter if you were or not
how can you let me slip away

No more first for you
No more first for me
No First daddy daughter wedding dance
No meet your fist grand baby
No more first that are left
