Her SunA Poem by Lilac WolfHe was - and is - her sun. She'll reach for him until the day he burns her up completely. He was her sun- Bright, Brilliant, Dazzling; Shining in ways she wished she could Radiating with confidence she could only hope to achieve. She reached for him Every day, But he slipped just out of her grasp- And though she realized she’d never reach him, Like a fool, Every day, She reached anyway. For it was not reaching him that brought her happiness, But the way she stretched her arms so high, With such passion, Trying to touch him; And he seemed so oblivious, continuing to shine on her with such warmth, She couldn’t help but try harder. And every night When the moon rose, She’d rest her arms Preparing for tomorrow When he rose again- Just out of her reach; And she’d do it again. Repeat the whole process every day, Until she burned up, or he did; Which ever came first. © 2014 Lilac WolfFeatured Review
