My Sister

My Sister

A Poem by Lilac Wolf
"

Just a poem I wrote one day whilst thinking about my sister (of whom this is not based off)

"

Sometimes I stop and say hello to my sister

I tell her about my day and how things have been

I’d like to think she enjoys the company,

and she never tells me any different"

But really, I don’t expect her to.

~

It’s been a few months since I last saw my sister

Mother and I decided to pay a visit

She brought along irises, my sister’s favorites,

And we sat and talked for a while.

~

It’s been several years since I last saw my sister

And I’m grown now, married with kids

I brought them along to see her today

And I’d like to believe she’s happy for me"

But I really don’t know these days.

~

Years and years pass, my children are grown,

and they have children themselves

I am old and wrinkled and my hair has turned grey

And yet my sister is forever youthful"

Of course, I expect no less from her.

~

My children are crying, as I lay in my bed,

And my husband holds my hand tightly

I will be joining my sister soon,

and mother and father as well"

I hope they’ve saved a place for me

in Heaven.

Sorrowful, but it is written in such a lovely manner. At least the woman went peacefully, knowing that she would soon be with her lost relatives.
