Chapter 20 (Part 4)A Chapter by CreepingDeathChapter 20 Draven continued towards the kingdom of Wildehollow, where Battery awaited him. Before he could make it to Wildehollow, there was one place he had to go through. The kingdom of Spirighast. Spirighast was home to the Phantom Lord. His muzzle ability was when he killed someone, he could use their soul as a puppet, commanding them at his will. Draven knew that if he were to die to the Phantom Lord, then he would surely go after Battery with his new soul puppet. Draven would either have to kill The Phantom Lord, or convince him to help him on his quest to destroy Battery. Of course, neither situation would be easy. The Phantom Lord wasn’t easy to trick, in fact, he was one of the smartest people on the planet. If anything, he would convince Draven to give up his life and help him to kill Battery. But killing him was even more challenging. It is said that he has placed traps all around Spirighast, meaning Draven could easily be caught and killed. Not only would maneuvering the traps be difficult, but if he were to get past them, fighting the Phantom Lord meant almost certain death. It is said that just gazing into his deadly eyes could turn your very being cold. He could terrify you just by looking at him. Though, Draven believed that the rumors were lies. He was confident that he could beat him. He was confident that, even if the rumors were true, he wouldn’t fall victim to The Phantom Lord’s terrifying gaze. Draven would come up with a plan in order to defeat the Phantom Lord. He’d do anything to get to Battery. He had to kill him. He had to kill The Phantom Lord. Then, he’d kill Battery. Polaris was already far away from Sanitarium. He knew that he would never return back to that place. His life was ruined. Everyone in his family had been killed. The only “family” he had left didn’t care about him. The only way he could redeem himself is by becoming the most powerful person on the planet. He would kill Battery, usurp his throne, and take over the planet. Though, Polaris still feared Battery. He didn’t know how he would beat him. Battery could simply use his ability to kill him from afar. Maybe Polaris would be killed just as easily as Orion was. Polaris needed to come up with a way to kill Battery. He had to strategize. Battery’s muzzle ability is that he can control any body part of a living being. He could use it to manipulate your mind, arms, legs, torso, bone, muscle, basically anything on a person. Polaris wondered if there was a counter to this ability. He thought long and hard about a solution to the problem. Perhaps he could dodge the ability if he moved quick enough? Maybe he could trick Battery into using the ability to do the opposite of what he wanted? Maybe he could block the ability with a shield or weapon? Polaris brain stormed all sorts of ideas for beating Battery’s body control, but it seemed that there was no way to counter it. “Stuck, aren’t you?” a voice came from behind Polaris. He quickly turned around, reaching for the sword on his back. Who he saw was none other than the old lady who gave him his power. “What are you doing here?” he asked. The old lady smirked. “I’m here to help.” she responded. Polaris rested his hand and sat on the ground. The old lady walked closer. “So, you want to go up against Battery, huh?” she remarked. Polaris looked up at her. “How do you know?” he asked. “I know more about you than you do, Polaris. If you want to defeat Battery, you’ll have to take advantage of your power.” she said. She held up yet another pocket watch. “Look at the watch, Polaris. Anything seem odd about it?” she asked. Polaris stared at the watch. It moved like a normal clock would. But then, Polaris noticed something. One second on the clock seemed long. Almost like four or five seconds passed in that time. Polaris realised what was happening. The clock did move at a normal speed, but time didn’t. It was slowed down. He looked around. The grass bristled around slowly, as well as the trees. Birds flew over head, but Polaris could see each individual flap of their wings. Polaris looked back at the old lady. Time began to move at a normal pace. “What just happened?” he asked. The old lady cackled. “You like repeating yourself, don’t you? The ability I gave you isn’t just the ability to reverse time. It’s the complete manipulation of time.” she replied. Polaris’ eyes widened. The old lady nodded. “Yes, with enough practice you’ll be able to stop time, reverse time, slow down time, go forward in time, anything. Of course, it will take years of practice and then some. But for now, you can reverse time for 12 hours, and you can slow time down for 5 seconds.” she said. Polaris returned to a normal state. “That is, disappointing.” he said. The old lady shook her head. “Of course it is to you.” she replied. “Well go on, try it.” she said. Polaris looked confused. “How? Aren’t you going to give me something that’ll allow me?” the old lady shook her head. “All you have to do is raise one finger and c**k it forward.” she said. “Like this.” she demonstrated how he should do it. Polaris looked down at his hand. He flicked his finger forward, just like the old lady told him. Again, time began to slow down. Polaris began to count. 1… 2… 3… 4… 5. Once he counted to 5, time began to move back at a normal pace. The old lady smiled. “Well done.” she said. Polaris looked back up at her. “Why are you helping me?” he asked. The old lady looked away. “I knew your parents a long time ago. They were some of my greatest friends, and they helped me with everything. I think it’s time I returned the favor.” she replied. Polaris looked down at the ground, then back up at her. “Thank you, for all you’ve done for me. I wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for you.” he said. The old lady turned back around and smirked at him. “Well, it’s about time I leave. Make sure you kick Battery’s butt for me.” she said. And after that, she disappeared, same as before. Polaris smiled. Thank you. He thought to himself. He stood back up, continuing his journey to Wildehollow. With this new found power of his, beating Battery would be a breeze. He could simply out maneuver him in slowed time, and if he were to be injured, he could simply reverse time to try again. Polaris was confident that he could kill Battery now. He had a plan to killing him. Polaris knew that if Draven was still alive, he would go after Battery. Polaris would wait for Draven to fight Battery, and most likely lose. If Draven were to even land a hit on Battery, Polaris would be at a major advantage. If Draven didn’t then Battery would most likely underestimate Polaris’ ability. That’s when Polaris would strike. He would be sloppy at first, but quickly become more of a worthy opponent. Battery would see Polaris’ plan, and use his ability to end the fight quickly. That is when Polaris would use his time slowing ability. He would get out of the way of the body control, go behind Battery, and cleave his head off. If Draven were to hit Battery, Polaris would join Draven in his fight. Battery would find it difficult to fight two opponents at once, especially with an injury. He would most likely go after Draven first, using his body control on him. Polaris would then dash behind Battery, stabbing him through the chest. Battery would fall to the ground, and after that Polaris would slice through Battery’s throat, killing him. Draven would most likely be injured. Polaris would simply walk over to him and grab him by the throat. He’d slice through Draven’s stomach, opening his bowels. Draven would soon realise that the same person that saved him such a time ago, would be the same person to end him. Polaris’ plan was foolproof. He would easily fulfill his objective. He hadn’t even the slightest chance of failure. Battery was no match for him. He was no longer scared of him. He’d kill Battery, kill Draven, and, if Aza was still alive, marry her. Polaris continued his journey to Wildehollow. One day had passed now. If he used his slowed time, he could most likely make it to Wildehollow in just one day, as he moved at normal speed during slowed time. He could use the ability to gain 5 seconds of extra speed. But little did Polaris know that there was yet one obstacle that would stop him from reaching Wildehollow. © 2019 CreepingDeath |
