Chapter 10A Chapter by CreepingDeathChapter 10 The morning went as normal. Aza woke 3 hours before Draven. When she walked down the stairs, she saw Polaris sleeping on the couch. His large beast like hands were hanging off the side, while his wolfish feet lay propped up on the side. She decided to leave him be. It looked like he was having pleasant dreams. As Aza was about to leave to watch the sunrise, he snarled in his sleep. Maybe those dreams weren’t that pleasant. Aza sat atop her favorite hill to watch the sunrise. A perfect, normal day. A person in the distance began approaching. Aza caught them out of the corner of her eye. She stood from the place she sat. The person came closer. “Hello, welcome to Kravero.” Aza greeted them. “Are you here to see Draven?” she asked. The person snickered to themselves. They walked right past her. “They should right that on your grave as well.” They mumbled under their breath. Aza ran in front of them. “Y’know, if you are here for Draven, you’ll have to wait downstairs.” She warned. They kept walking. When Aza and them brushed shoulders, Aza felt a slight stinging sensation. Aza began to worry, though there was nothing she could do. The person entered the house. Aza ran inside after them. The person stopped at the door. They walked over to the kitchen and took a seat. Aza finally caught up to them. The person looked over at her. “I’ll wait down here, as you wish.” They said. Their voice was raspy and cold. Almost like a whisper. Aza was surprised that they listened. “Umm yeah, ok. If you want you can help me make breakfast. Then we could all eat.” Aza tried to be friendly. The person looked over at them. “I’m sorry, but I can’t. I’d probably ruin the whole thing just by touching it.” Aza laughed aloud. “Your pretty funny, just who are you anyways?” Aza asked. The person looked away at the stairs. “A business partner from quite a time ago.” They answered. Aza accepted the answer. She didn’t want to invade anyone’s privacy. Polaris’ snarls became long growls from the living room. A tension grew in the kitchen. The loud noises of the clattering of pots and the petty yelps of the mutt in the living room. The person began to grow annoyed and irritated. “You know what? I think I’ll wait outside.” The person said. “Alright, don’t get too cold.” Aza responded. When she looked back at them, there was a shifting of movement from their back. A single black feather fell from their robe they wore. Aza felt as though she knew who this was, but just couldn’t pinpoint exactly who. As Aza prepared the breakfast, Polaris was woken by the loud banging. He woke almost as one would wake from a nightmare. He jumped from the couch and landed on his back. Aza looked over. What is that buffoon doing? She asked herself. Polaris looked around to see himself in the house. He was safe. He got up from the ground, rubbing the back of his head. He groaned from the pain. He looked over at the kitchen. The smell of berries, meat, and freshly made dough had caught the attention of him. He sneaked over to where the meal was being cooked. “My my, what do we have here?” He asked. Aza didn’t move to look at him. “I’m making pepberry and salberry bread, as well as joulis, wanna help?” Aza responded. She could use the help, as this was a lot to make. But would Polaris be reliable with his ability of culinary. Polaris smiled ear to ear as he heard her ask. “I would love to.” He responded. His grin was that of a sinister one. Aza pointed over at the dough. “First, I’m gonna need you to knead the dough.” She said. Polaris walked over to the dough. He stared at its round shape. He took the dough in his hand and crushed it with the weight of his palm. Aza looked over at him in astonishment. “What the hell are you doing?” she said. “What does it look like? I’m ruining all of your hard work.” He responded. “Get away from that! Now!” she said as she ran over to him. Right before she reached him, Polaris snuck the small watch from his pocket, and pressed the top button. Time began to reverse. Once time began to move forward, Polaris was back on the couch. Polaris looked over to see Aza working in the kitchen. He laughed out loud. Aza looked over confused. Did he just wake up? Why is he laughing? She thought to herself. “Hey, why are you laughing?” she asked him. Polaris didn’t respond. He just kept laughing. Aza snickered to herself. He must be enjoying himself. That’s a good thing. As long as there wasn’t any drama happening, she was fine. Polaris continued laughing for what felt like forever. Aza had finished making breakfast and now headed up to wake up Draven. Polaris saw this, and decided to take his chance and have some fun with the stranger outside. Polaris walked outside and saw them lied back on a tree. They were watching the various birds fight with each other. Polaris felt a chill come down his spine. He slowly walked over to the figure. Polaris was about 5 steps away from them when they jerked their head towards him. “Before you take another step towards me, think about what might happen.” they warned. Polaris looked at them. “And what might happen if I were to do this?” He said as he lunged towards the person. He aimed to pull the hood of their robe down. Before he reached the hood, a burning sensation throbbed around his wrist as the person gripped their hand. “It's best you reverse time now wolfslayer.” the person said. Polaris looked surprised. So surely enough, he reversed time. Polaris was back on the couch watching Aza go upstairs to wake Draven. Polaris looked over towards the door, but instead of the person being outside like they were supposed to, there they were standing at the doorway. Polaris was shocked. How did they move so quickly? No, they must know about my ability. But I haven’t told anyone. Polaris’ mind swirled looking for an answer. “It's really a quite simple answer wolfslayer. I’m more aware than a simple ape or mangy mutt.” The person answered Polaris’ question before he even asked. Polaris realised the person called him wolfslayer. He decided to ask why. “Wolfslayer is what you call me. Why?” the person looked surprised. They laughed to themselves before answering. “To think you don’t know your own backstory is insulting. You are a wolfslayer.” He answered. Polaris looked more confused now. The person shook their head in disappointment. “Do not worry yet wolfslayer, you will figure it out sooner or later.” They said mockingly. Aza and Draven could be heard coming down the stairs. “So who is this visitor you’re talking about?” he asked. “I don’t know, but they said you and them were old business partners.” Draven reached the bottom of the stairs and saw them standing at the doorway. He chuckled. “‘Business Partners’ was the best you could think of? Really?” he mocked them. The person shrugged. They began to remove their hood, revealing that they were actually the Angel of Death. Aza was shocked that Draven would be care free that THE Angel of Death was in his house. Polaris stood there, still dumbfounded about wolfslayer. What could it mean? He thought to himself. “Well come on now, let’s all have breakfast and talk about why you’d show your bony hands in my own house.” Draven said. The Angel complied and came into the kitchen. Polaris still stood there, unmoving. Aza looked back at him. “Hey, are you coming in or not?” she asked. Polaris looked back up at her. He shook his head. She shrugged and went into the kitchen with Draven. Polaris sat on the couch, wrapping his head around the words the skeleton said. Wolfslayer he thought to himself. The wolfslayers were an elite group of pepreka’s that were given separate powers. Their main objectives were to protect the innocent from those evil enough to try and conquer other kingdoms. Though, ever since Battery became the most powerful person in the world, they went extinct. Battery sent special assassins after some that were in hiding, and those who surrendered were publicly executed. Each wolfslayer was as powerful as 10 men. They were at one point the most feared group of warriors. The fact that Polaris could be a descendant of these warriors meant only one thing. The reason the old lady gave him the muzzle ability was not by random chance. © 2019 CreepingDeath |
