Chapter 8A Chapter by CreepingDeathChapter 8 The clock chimed as the hands struck seven. Aza had woken up with a smile on her face as always. She’d always wake up three hours before Draven. She needed that time to prepare medical supplies for his quests, to make breakfast, and to gaze at the beautiful sunrise. Aza carefully picked out her clothes. She would wear a blue dress top with a purple velvet skirt. The clothes fit perfectly with her golden coat of fur and blonde hair. Once dressed, she quietly walked down the stairs as to not wake Draven up. She opened the front door carefully, and crept outside. She walked over to her favorite spot to watch the sunrise. It sat right atop a hill. The bright green grass seemed to glow in the sunlight. Aza gracefully sat down to watch it rise. It was such a beautiful sight to see. It was sad to know that Draven had never seen it before. He was always a heavy sleeper. He needed it for energy on his quests. Aza gazed at the bright oranges and reds that lit the sky. The birds were chirping, the grass was glistening, the wind whistling, the trees following the flow of the breeze. A single tear fell down Aza’s cheek. This is just too perfect for Draven to miss. She thought to herself. She saw the sunrise for what it was. A metaphor of the near perfect life her and Draven were living. Yet Draven had never seen such beauty before. She ran inside to wake Draven. He couldn’t miss it, not this time. “Drae-Drae, wake up.” she rocked him in his bed. He croaked as one eye opened. “What is it? It's too early for breakfast.” Draven responded. “Just follow me outside, quickly.” she said. Draven dragged himself out of bed. Aza waited at the door. “So what did you want to show me?” He asked. She pointed out the door. “Look”. Draven walked over to the door and went outside. He looked around the scenery. “Whoa…” was all he said. He could hear the chirps of the birds coming from the trees, the bristling of the wind against the leaves. But most importantly, he saw the sunrise. The beautiful contrast of red and orange. The light that seemed to make the grass glow. Draven sat where he exited the house. Aza sat next to him. “Stunning, isn’t it?” she asked. “Yeah.” he responded. “And to think you miss this every morning.” Aza said. Draven looked down at the ground, almost feeling bad. Aza saw this action. She moved herself closer to Draven. “Well, at least now you’ve seen it, right?” she said. “Yeah, I guess so.” He said. Aza still sensed a bit of sadness coming from him. She laid her head on his shoulder. He still sat there. He looked over to her, staring at the sunrise, still amazed at how gorgeous it was, even though she has seen it countless times. Draven put his arm around her. There they sat, watching the sunrise together for the first time. This sparked a new memory they would both share. They would both treasure this memory until the ends of time. © 2019 CreepingDeathAuthor's Note
